Basketball Game Preview: Freedom Prep Academy Eagles vs. Salt Lake Academy Griffins

The Freedom Prep Academy Eagles will challenge the Salt Lake Academy Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom Prep Academy is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-25, which was the final score in Freedom Prep Academy's tilt against American Prep WV on Friday.

Joseph Black put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Leigh, who put up seven points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Salt Lake Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-32 win over Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams on Friday.

Freedom Prep Academy better keep an eye on Braylon Brock. He was instrumental in Salt Lake Academy's win, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 18 boards. Brock is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Elijah Johnson was another key player, putting up 11 points and six steals.

Salt Lake Academy's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-4. As for Freedom Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Freedom Prep Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Salt Lake Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
