Baseball Recap: Escondido Takes a Loss

If Escondido was feeling good fresh off their 17-0 takedown of San Dieguito Academy on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell just short of the Valley Center Jaguars by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Escondido saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake ` Fleming, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Another was Ryder Taylor, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Escondido has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-7 record this season. As for Valley Center, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-10.

While Escondido had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
