Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln-Way East vs. Sandburg

The Lincoln-Way East Griffins will challenge the Sandburg Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Lincoln-Way East saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 3-1 to De La Salle. While losing is never fun, Lincoln-Way East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 141st, while De La Salle are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Sandburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Andrew who was credited with the win. The Thunderbolts got it done in the shootout by posting seven goals to Sandburg's six.

Lincoln-Way East's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Sandburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Lincoln-Way East came out on top in a nail-biter against Sandburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Griffins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
