Basketball Recap: Cromwell Takes a Loss

Cromwell lost against Haddam-Killingworth back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cromwell Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to the Haddam-Killingworth Cougars.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Peyton Kelleher, who posted 13 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Piper Kovacs, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Cromwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

Cromwell dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cromwell won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Newtown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Haddam-Killingworth, they will finish 2024 at home by hosting East Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th.
