Baseball Recap: Nativity BVM Comes Up Short

Nativity BVM fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Minersville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Miners by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in March.

STEPHEN KARINCH was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Nativity BVM: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was TREY KEATING, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Nativity BVM has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Minersville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-6.
