Elm Creek came tearing into Friday's match with 18 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.2 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Morrill Lions to the tune of 70-34. Given the Buffaloes' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Lions are ranked 197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elm Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryann Erickson led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and 14 boards. Erickson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashley Bauer, who posted 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Elm Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Morrill's loss came despite strong showings from Katelyn Walker and Madisyn Carrizales. Walker scored 17 points and seven boards, while Carrizales almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Carrizales a new career-high in boards.

Elm Creek's record is now 24-1. As for Morrill, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 16-11.

Elm Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-44 victory against Diller-Odell on the 5th. Morrill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
