Volleyball Game Preview: Roger Bacon Spartans vs. Lakota East Thunderhawks

Roger Bacon hasn't had much luck against Lakota East recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Spartans will square off against the Thunderhawks at 6:00 p.m.

Last Thursday, Roger Bacon didn't have quite enough to beat Walnut Hills and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lakota East, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Lakota West on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Thunderhawks in their matchups with the Firebirds: they've now won four in a row.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-10, 25-17.

Roger Bacon better focus on containing Carson Berling and Will Huelskamp as the pair were huge in Lakota East's win. Berling had nine digs and three aces, while Huelskamp had six digs. What's more, Berling posted three assists, the most he's had over his last eight games. Jude Callahan also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.

Lakota East was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Roger Bacon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lakota East, their record is now 9-2.

Roger Bacon couldn't quite get it done against Lakota East when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
