Basketball Recap: Danielys Pena Ponce's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Four Corners over Jordan Christian Prep

Four Corners lost against Jordan Christian Prep back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Four Corners Coyotes lost to the Jordan Christian Prep Seahawks at home by a 75-58 margin. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while the Seahawks are ranked 157th).

Four Corners lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Danielys Pena Ponce, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Pena Ponce is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. Mia Villanueva was another key player, going 9 of 16 en route to 20 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Four Corners smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Four Corners now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Jordan Christian Prep, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Four Corners and Fort Meade will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Jordan Christian Prep, they will take on IMG Academy Blue at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
