Baseball Game Preview: Prairie View Academy Spartans vs. River Oaks Mustangs

Prairie View Academy is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will welcome the River Oaks Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Prairie View Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Tuesday. They blew past Briarfield Academy 8-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Meanwhile, River Oaks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Franklin Academy on Monday. The one-run effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The team relied heavily on Makaih White, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

River Oaks has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. Prairie View Academy now has a winning record of 2-1.

Everything went Prairie View Academy's way against River Oaks in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Prairie View Academy made off with a 15-0 win. Will Prairie View Academy repeat their success, or does River Oaks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
