Softball Recap: Clinton Central Bulldogs vs. Frontier Falcons
With a playoff game on the line, Clinton Central rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over the Frontier Falcons. Clinton Central might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 11 matches by eight runs or more this season.
Landree Whiteman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Whiteman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Whiteman was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Olivia Richie was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Lynssie Wallsmith was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
On Frontier's side, Grace Kelley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
The victory was the third in a row for Clinton Central, bringing their record for this year to 14-6. As for Frontier, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-19.
