Baseball Recap: Curry Comes Up Short

If Curry was riding high fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Meek last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Oakman Wildcats by a score of 6-5 on Monday. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Blanton Gillespie was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kameron Miles made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Curry's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Oakman, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 17-17.

As of now, neither Curry nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
