Preview: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers
Arrupe Jesuit has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Arrupe Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
Arrupe Jesuit scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They managed a 68-63 victory over Lake County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Xavier Martinez and Ari Cowans were among the main playmakers for Arrupe Jesuit as the former scored 16 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds and the latter scored 30 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cowans has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Oscar Padilla, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, KIPP Denver Collegiate's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Platte Canyon by a score of 40-38.
Despite their loss, KIPP Denver Collegiate saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Adel Adam, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Ronaldo Sandoval, who scored nine points.
Arrupe Jesuit's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Arrupe Jesuit and KIPP Denver Collegiate were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but Arrupe Jesuit came up empty-handed after a 45-44 loss.
