Softball Recap: San Marino Takes a Loss

If San Marino was riding high fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Pasadena on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. San Marino came up short against the Monrovia Wildcats on Wednesday, falling 16-5. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Kayla Giddings made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Esbenshade, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Giddings wasn't the only one working in the hit department: San Marino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

San Marino's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Monrovia, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-9-1.

Looking ahead, San Marino will head out to take on La Canada at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monrovia, they will take on West Covina at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
