Baseball Game Preview: Wenonah Dragons vs. Parker Thundering Herd

Wenonah is 0-10 against Parker since March of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Dragons will venture away from home to challenge the Thundering Herd at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Wenonah turned things around against Woodlawn on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Colonels 7-6.

The team relied heavily on Amari Matthews, who scored two runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those seven stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Korey Brown also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Parker got the win against Woodlawn on Saturday by a conclusive 20-1. Considering the Thundering Herd have won ten contests by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Courterius Bedgood was a standout: he scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Conellrious Scott, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Parker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Parker's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-13. As for Wenonah, their record is now 4-12.

Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wenonah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .496. However, it's not like Parker struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Wenonah might still be hurting after the 16-3 loss they got from Parker in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
