Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is North Pitt's Third in Last Four Outings

North Pitt won the last time they faced Ayden - Grifton, and Zihanna Lightfoot did her part to make sure it happened again. The North Pitt Panthers simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Ayden - Grifton Chargers 50-23 thanks in part to Lightfoot, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, she also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024.

Namiya Heath was another key player, putting up five points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

North Pitt has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Ayden - Grifton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

North Pitt and Ayden - Grifton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. North Pitt will face off against Perquimans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 214 places (293 vs. 79). Similarly, Ayden - Grifton (ranked 519th) will meet SouthWest Edgecombe (ranked 71st) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
