Recap: Celina Bulldogs vs. Allen East Mustangs
If the Celina Bulldogs were feeling good off their 56-13 takedown of the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Celina was outmatched by Allen East on the road and fell 62-35. While losing is never fun, Celina can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 515th, while Allen East is ranked 148th).
Savana Brooks was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with seven steals and six rebounds for Allen East. Soraya Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Celina's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.6 points per game. As for Allen East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Celina will face off against Bath at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Allen East won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tinora at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
