Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Liberty can now relate to. They received a blow on Monday as they fell 92-78 to the Davenport North Wildcats. The Lightning's loss continues a trend for the squad, making it 16 in a row.

Despite the defeat, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jerimiah Washpun en route to 29 points along with five assists and five boards. That was a full 37.2% of Liberty's points, marking the third time in a row Washpun has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Randall, who earned 12 points.

Even though they lost, Liberty was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Davenport North, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-8.

As of now, neither Liberty nor Davenport North have any future games scheduled.
