Preview: Yates Center Wildcats vs. Altoona-Midway Jets

Yates Center is 7-1 against Altoona-Midway since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Yates Center Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Altoona-Midway Jets at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Yates Center took a 55-point loss the last time they faced off against Chetopa, but they managed to turn things around on Monday. Yates Center never let Chetopa onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Yates Center has scored all year.

Meanwhile, Altoona-Midway waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 58-44 victory over Marmaton Valley. The high-flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Altoona-Midway considering their two-point performance the matchup before.

Altoona-Midway relied on the efforts of Jacob Meigs, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and William Stackhouse, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Stackhouse is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kieran Foster, who scored ten points along with five steals.

The win made it two in a row for Yates Center and bumps their season record up to 2-15. As for Altoona-Midway, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Yates Center couldn't quite finish off Altoona-Midway when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 50-48. Can Yates Center avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
