Volleyball Recap: Patton Starts Season with Victory Against Freedom

Patton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Freedom Patriots with a sharp 3-0 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won four in a row.

Patton not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Freedom between 19 and 21 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-21.

Hannah Huggins paced Patton's offense, picking up 11 kills. Huggins got some help from Emma Griffin and her 15 assists. Griffin also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Leah Clark, racking up four apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Freedom lost, don't look at Josie Morgan. Despite the final result, she had 11 digs and two assists.

Coming up, Patton will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on South Caldwell at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Freedom, they will head out on the road to face off against Hibriten at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
