Volleyball Recap: South Newton's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact South Newton can now relate to. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Faith Christian Eagles on Saturday. The Rebels' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why South Newton lost, don't look at Briley Iseminger. Despite the final result, she had 18 digs and one assist. Iseminger is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Leading Faith Christian to victory were Kelsey Olehy and Caya Stillings. Olehy had eight digs and five aces, while Stillings had 13 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Olehy has posted since back in September.

South Newton's loss dropped their record down to 21-11. As for Faith Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 30-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Eagles beat South Newton by a score of 3-1 later that day.
