Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Halifax Vikings vs. Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars

The Northwest Halifax Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rocky Mount Prep took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Northwest Halifax, who comes in off a win.

Northwest Halifax is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to KIPP P for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-10 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-6.

Northwest Halifax's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keyara Rook, who posted 22 points. Another player making a difference was Alyssia Patterson, who had 15 points.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mount Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost to Northampton County on the road by a 39-23 margin.

Despite the loss, Rocky Mount Prep saw an underclassman step up: freshman Amora Franklin scored no points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Rocky Mount Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

The victory snapped Northwest Halifax's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-9 record. As for Rocky Mount Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Everything came up roses for Northwest Halifax against Rocky Mount Prep in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured a 54-23 win. In that match, Northwest Halifax amassed a halftime lead of 29-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
