Basketball Recap: Highland Rim Academy Drops Season-High Score on South Haven Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highland Rim Academy). They had just enough and edged South Haven Christian out 61-58. This was a revenge game for Highland Rim Academy: when they faced off against South Haven Christian back in December of 2024, they had to take a 38-36 defeat.

Despite the loss, South Haven Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maylen Gagliano dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Those 13 points gave Gagliano a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Polina Letova, who posted ten points and five steals.

The win made it two in a row for Highland Rim Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-4. As for South Haven Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-9.

Highland Rim Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Christian Community at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Christian Community will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Highland Rim Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Haven Christian, they and Pleasant View Christian will face off at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
