Basketball Recap: Lompoc Comes Up Short

Lompoc saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 68-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hilmar Yellowjackets. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hilmar's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Sward, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 15 boards. Those nine points gave Sward a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xavier Silveira, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 21 points and three steals.

Lompoc's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hilmar, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Lompoc has already played their next matchup (against Torres), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hilmar, they and Santa Ynez will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. The Yellowjackets will be up against the Pirates' rather soft defense (which has allowed 65.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
