Baseball Recap: Penfield Takes a Loss

Penfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They fell 10-5 to the Brighton Bruins. The Patriots were not able to make up for their loss to the Bruins from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Joey Bianchi was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Penfield's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 3-1 (and 2-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Scibienski, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Penfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Brighton, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

Coming up, Penfield will host Churchville-Chili at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Brighton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
