Basketball Recap: Grace Takes a Loss

If Grace was riding high fresh off their 79-27 takedown of Beacon Hill last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Grace Lancers were dealt a 65-31 defeat at the hands of the Foothill Tech Dragons on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-26 back in January.

Grace's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Spencer, who posted 14 points. Riley Williams was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Nick Turner was his usual excellent self, posting 14 points for Foothill Tech. Another player making a difference was Luigirey Guce, who earned six points and five steals.

Grace's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Foothill Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-13 record this season.

Grace will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Rio Hondo Prep at 6:30 p.m. Foothill Tech has already played their next match, a 63-61 loss against Santa Paula on the 1st.
