Volleyball Recap: Melany Decasas Falcon Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat La Junta

Pueblo Central was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past the La Junta Tigers 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pueblo Central wouldn't go down easily and took La Junta into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-22, 21-25, 21-25, 15-7.

Pueblo Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Melany Decasas Falcon, who had 14 digs. Those 14 digs gave Decasas Falcon a new career-high. Mylie Schauer also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Pueblo Central was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive contests.

Pueblo Central's record is now 5-2. As for La Junta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo Central will head out to square off against Harrison at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for La Junta, they will take on Rocky Ford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
