Basketball Recap: Logan Victorious

It's playoff time, and Logan had no trouble coming through when it counted. They slipped by the Central Crossing Comets 52-51 on Wednesday. The Chieftains didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Makenzie Daubenmire was her usual excellent self, putting up 24 points along with eight rebounds and eight blocks. She is becoming a predictor of Logan's success: when she posts at least five blocks the team is 3-1 (and 3-16 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ella Hinton, who posted 12 points in addition to eight assists and six boards.

Logan was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Central Crossing's also-impressive total of ten.

Loss or not, Central Crossing got some senior leadership from Cordelia Watkins and Savannah Hamilton. Watkins dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Hamilton went 8-for-17 en route to 17 points along with six steals and five assists. That's the most points Watkins has posted since back in December of 2024. Kassidy Gunnell was another key player, scoring eight points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Logan's victory bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Central Crossing, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 17 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Looking ahead, Logan is taking a road trip to challenge Westerville South at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Westerville South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season. Central Crossing does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
