Basketball Recap: Furtah Prep Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Furtah Prep faced off against Etowah on Tuesday. The Furtah Prep Falcons took a blow against the Etowah Eagles, falling 72-26. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-18.

Taylor Wills was nothing short of spectacular for Etowah: she went 9 of 20 on her way to 27 points. The dominant performance gave Wills a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Aparicio, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points along with six boards and three steals.

With the defeat, Furtah Prep broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3. As for Etowah, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Furtah Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cherokee Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Etowah will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Nation Ford at 6:15 p.m. on December 27th.
