League recap: Central climbs in standings with win

Central was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 24th to 17th in Freelance. Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs triumphed over Buffalo 46-8.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, South Callaway beat Tipton 44-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Bulldogs.

McDonald County's dynamic duo of Jake Wood and Cooper Underwood proved tough for Seneca to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wood threw for 100 yards and Underwood had 84 yards receiving.

University Academy Charter's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gryphons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Monta Porter has thrown for 633 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Bryon Winfrey has 8 catches for 275 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Battle takes on South Callaway. Battle is in seventh place, while Tim Rulo's team is in first place.

Justin Conyers' team moved up to 132 from 161 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Freelance. Battle was able to move up by beating Gateway Tech 45-7.
