Basketball Recap: Sacred Heart Academy Falls Short of Cardinal O'hara in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sacred Heart Academy can now relate to. They were beaten by the Cardinal O'Hara Hawks 72-41 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Sharks have suffered since January 14th.

Sacred Heart Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emilee Bacon, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Bacon has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Makenna Chamberlain, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

It was another big night for Kyla Hayes, who put up 33 points for Cardinal O'Hara. Hayes has become a key player for Cardinal O'Hara: the team is 13-2 when she posts at least 25 points, but 4-5 otherwise. Elonna McGriff was another key player, putting up ten points.

Sacred Heart Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Cardinal O'Hara, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-7.

Sacred Heart Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-52 defeat against Nichols on the 27th. As for Cardinal O'Hara, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-55 win against St. Mary's on the 27th.
