Baseball Recap: Jackson-Reed Takes Down Ranked Gilman

Jackson-Reed is ranked highly in their home state and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Gilman. The Jackson-Reed Tigers had just enough and edged out the Gilman Greyhounds 6-4. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jackson-Reed got a great performance from Zander Leckszas as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Leckszas also tossed a walk, which is notable because Jackson-Reed is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evan Rosario, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ben Shapiro, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2.

Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gilman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
