Basketball Game Preview: New Kent Trojans vs. Mechanicsville Mustangs

The New Kent Trojans will head out to face off against the Mechanicsville Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Kent has 20 straight wins, Mechanicsville has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for New Kent against Jamestown as the squad secured an 84-55 victory. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Will Ross, who went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc to rack up 26 points. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Kyle Diggs was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Mechanicsville played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Patrick Henry and fell 67-36. The Mustangs were down 47-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Mechanicsville's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for New Kent, their win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-0.
