Baseball Game Preview: Campbell Indians vs. Celeste Blue Devils

The Campbell Indians will head out to square off against the Celeste Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Campbell will be strutting in after a win while Celeste will be coming in after a loss.

Campbell made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Saltillo, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Campbell was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over Saltillo on Monday. The Indians' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Drake Sweeney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Campbell is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-9-2 otherwise. Sweeney was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayan Cruz Garcia, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Noah Vasquez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Celeste lost 10-3 to Cooper on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Having lost for the first time this season, Celeste fell to 5-1-1. As for Campbell, they moved to 4-10-2 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.
