Volleyball Recap: MacDonald Takes a Loss

MacDonald lost against King's Academy on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Condor came up short against the Knights, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Condor have suffered since March 26th.

MacDonald was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-19, 25-16.

Tobin Ley paced MacDonald's offense, picking up 16 kills. Ley got some help from Dylan Bugarin and his 23 assists. Bugarin was also a major player on defense: he and Gerald Celino shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

King's Academy was led to victory by David Satorio and Andronico Netto. Satorio had five digs and three aces, while Netto had 40 assists and four digs. Those 40 assists gave Netto a new career-high.

MacDonald dropped their record down to 3-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for King's Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-15 record this season.

MacDonald is taking a road trip to challenge Palo Alto at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Condor surely won't give up without a fight. As for King's Academy, they will host Eastside College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
