Basketball Game Preview: Metro Tech Knights vs. McClintock Chargers

Metro Tech hasn't had much luck against McClintock recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Metro Tech Knights will head out on the road to challenge the McClintock Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-36, which was the final score in Metro Tech's tilt against Copper Canyon on Wednesday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-50, which was the final score in McClintock's tilt against Canyon View on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Jaguars are ranked tenth).

Metro Tech will need focus on slowing down Joshua Mcmanaway, one of several McClintock players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 17 points and seven boards. Mcmanaway's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyler Frye, who earned 13 points and seven assists.

Metro Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for McClintock, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Metro Tech was dealt a bruising 102-49 loss at the hands of McClintock in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Metro Tech avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
