Baseball Recap: Cherryvale Comes Up Short

Cherryvale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Caney Valley Bullpups. The Chargers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bullpups from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Peyton Modich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Wyatt Whittley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Ethan Umbarger was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Cherryvale's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Caney Valley, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 5-0-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cherryvale beat the Bullpups by a score of 5-4 later that day.
