Baseball Recap: Del Norte Comes Up Short

Del Norte fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against La Jolla Country Day on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 4-1 to the Torreys. If the Nighthawks were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Torreys when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Richie Moore was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grey Gusich, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Del Norte now has a losing record of 2-3. As for La Jolla Country Day, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Del Norte will venture away from home to face off against Torrey Pines at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Torrey Pines' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Del Norte's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for La Jolla Country Day, they will be taking part in a tournament against Gahr at 10:00 a.m. on the 31st.
