Recap: Lawrence Academy Warriors vs. Halifax Academy Vikings
Even though the Halifax Academy Vikings scored an imposing 71 points on Friday, the Lawrence Academy Warriors still came out on top. Lawrence Academy snuck past Halifax Academy with a 75-71 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lawrence Academy.
Lawrence Academy found their leader in underclassman Mari Larry, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Lee, who scored 11 points.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Oliver Anderson, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Landon Peoples, who scored 14 points along with six assists and two steals.
Even though they lost, Halifax Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Lawrence Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Halifax Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.
Lawrence Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Christ Covenant at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Christ Covenant is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Halifax Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Rocky Mount Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
