Softball Recap: West Has No Trouble Against Clifton

West got themselves on the board against Clifton on Thursday, but Clifton never followed suit. They blew past the Cubs 16-0. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Laynie Davis made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mabri Warren was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyla Shoppach, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.

West's record is now 13-14-1. As for Clifton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10-1 record this season.

As of now, neither West nor Clifton have any future games scheduled.
