Softball Recap: Asheville Cougars vs. A.C. Reynolds Rockets
Asheville had lost 19 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-20 to make it 20. They came up short against the A.C. Reynolds Rockets, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 back in March.
Asheville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camila Wyda Wyda, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
As for A.C. Reynolds, their record now sits at 8-12. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
On A.C. Reynolds' side, Jordan Dorsey was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Dorsey has posted since back in March. Maddy Davis was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Asheville will square off against rival North Buncombe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, A.C. Reynolds is set to face off against their familiar foe T.C. Roberson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
