Baseball Game Preview: Greenhill Hornets vs. St. Mark's Lions

The Greenhill Hornets will venture away from home to square off against the St. Mark's Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenhill is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Friday, Greenhill came up short against St. Stephen's Episcopal and fell 6-2. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly four runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mark's). They blew past Cistercian 13-1 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lions with their most commanding win of the season.

Greenhill's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-1. As for St. Mark's, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.

Greenhill got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against St. Mark's by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
