Basketball Recap: Cassidy Pough Key Part of a Team Effort in Saints Win

Calhoun County's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 49-38 win over the Horse Creek Academy Stallions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-46 back in December of 2024.

Calhoun County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cassidy Pough out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Pough has scored at least a third of Calhoun County's points. Another player making a difference was Christian Tyler-Corley, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals.

Several Stallions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katelyn Brown, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Sistare, who scored nine points.

Calhoun County's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7. As for Horse Creek Academy, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Calhoun County has already played their next game, a 61-30 loss against Hunter-Kinard-Tyler on the 31st. As for Horse Creek Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 55-25 defeat against Williston-Elko on the 31st.
