Softball Recap: Cherokee Trail Continues Home Dominance on Friday

While Cherokee Trail's victory against Valor Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 6-5. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles on Friday, too.

Emma Rice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Isabelle Becker and Delaney Falzon did most of the damage at the plate: Becker got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Falzon went 1-for-2 with one home run. That's the most RBI Becker has posted since back in September of 2024. Paige March also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Cherokee Trail's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Valor Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherokee Trail will head out to face off against Legend at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Titans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Valor Christian, they will face off against Bear Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
