Volleyball Game Preview: Washington Township Senators vs. Valparaiso Vikings

The Washington Township Senators will head out on the road to take on the Valparaiso Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Washington Township will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Monday, Washington Township got the win against Kouts by a conclusive 3-0.

While Washington Township won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-23, 25-15.

Porter Scott and Ethan Skrzypczak were among the main playmakers for Washington Township as the former had ten digs and the latter had eight digs and two assists. Those eight digs gave Skrzypczak a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Valparaiso made easy work of Portage on Monday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Valparaiso never let Portage on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-9, 25-20.

Valparaiso's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Washington Township, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's contest: Washington Township has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Valparaiso struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Washington Township came up short against Valparaiso in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Senators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
