Basketball Recap: Horizon Comes Up Short on the Road Against Fruita Monument + How To Watch

Horizon had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to the Fruita Monument Wildcats. The Hawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Horizon lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Noah Sokolowski, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jeramiah Chavez was another key player, putting up 11 points and six assists.

Jhett Wells had an outrageously good game for Fruita Monument as he went 9-for-17 on his way to 23 points along with seven boards and five steals. Wells is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Josh Huskey, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Horizon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-59 defeat against Grand Junction on the 5th. As for Fruita Monument, they have also already played their next game, a 79-61 win against Lutheran on the 5th.
