Basketball Recap: Highlands' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

If Fox Tech wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Highlands, they should've done a better job of containing Elaya Walker. The Highlands Owls took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 61-33 win over the Fox Tech Buffaloes thanks in part to Walker, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Emma Vela, who posted 11 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

With the victory, Highlands broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-17. As for Fox Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season.

Highlands has already played their next game, a 48-22 win against Lanier on the 28th. As for Fox Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 93-33 loss against Burbank on the 28th.
