Basketball Recap: Jaxon Brunaugh's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jersey over Jacksonville

Jersey suffered their closest defeat since February 6, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Jacksonville Crimsons by a score of 59-56. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 75-56 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jersey's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Brunaugh, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. John Paul Vogel was another key player, going 6 of 8 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds.

It was another big night for Amaree Burries, who went 9 for 14 on his way to 24 points and six boards for Jacksonville. Burries has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Moore, who posted 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Jersey and nudges their season record down to 6-15. As for Jacksonville, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.

Jersey will welcome Granite City at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jacksonville has already played their next contest (against Cahokia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
