Basketball Recap: Waterloo Find Success

Waterloo played in conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They secured a 53-47 W over the Mascoutah Indians. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mascoutah's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Fazenbaker, who posted 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 34% of Mascoutah's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Fritz, who went 6 for 8 on her way to 12 points.

The victory got Waterloo back to even at 5-5. As for Mascoutah, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Waterloo will take on Mater Dei in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mascoutah has already played their next matchup, a 55-29 loss against Freeburg on the 16th.
