Volleyball Game Preview: South Rebels vs. Mayfield Wildcats

The South Rebels will head out on the road to square off against the Mayfield Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mayfield took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on South, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, South made easy work of North and carried off a 3-0 victory.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 27-25, 26-24.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Olivia Langa, who had 16 digs and one block. That's the most digs Langa has posted over her last eight contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Miozzi, who had nine digs and three aces.

Meanwhile, Mayfield came up short against Bay on Saturday and fell 3-1. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20.

Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for South, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Everything went South's way against Mayfield when the teams last played on September 11th, as South made off with a 3-0 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Wildcats' VIVIAN GERBASI, who had 16 digs and three aces. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Rebels still be able to contain GERBASI? There's only one way to find out.
