Baseball Game Preview: Narragansett Mariners vs. Rogers Vikings

The Narragansett Mariners will head out to take on the Rogers Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Narragansett's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Rogers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Narragansett needed a bit of extra time to put away Middletown. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Islanders. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mariners as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Riley Cronin was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Sam Simoes also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Rogers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Johnston. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings have suffered since April 23, 2024.

Darren Carter was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Kieran Moore was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Rogers' defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Narragansett, their record now sits at 7-8.

Narragansett came up short against Rogers in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, falling 7-4. Can the Mariners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
